Valentina Shevchenko lost sensationally and was left without a UFC belt

On the eve of International Women’s Day, the girls made a mess in Las Vegas. UFC 285 in March was a shock even before Jon Jones’ groundbreaking return as we saw the feel of 2023 at the joint main event. Dominant champion Valentina Shevchenko, who set the record for most defenses (there were seven defences), took an unexpected and therefore even more difficult defeat to Alexa Grasso in eighth place.

For the first time we saw a girl from Mexico fighting for the belt of the most prestigious MMA organization in the world. And from the very first moment, the beautiful applicant made her mark in sports history.

The second most important event of the evening took place from the very first seconds. Valentina has no dominance, no fear in Grasso’s movements – 15 minutes of battle where Alexa unexpectedly showed herself better standing (the first five minutes followed), while Bullet took the second and third rounds fairly as she dragged her opponent to the ground.

In the fourth round, the irreparable happened… A minute before the break, the favourite had kicked the round, which led the fight to a tough but still clear victory on the points. Grasso took advantage of this! With lightning speed, the Mexican grabbed a Bishkek native’s back and forced Valentina to give up after applying prolonged pressure to her opponent’s face.
